The WITNESS exhibit is a series that invites photographers, artists and writers documenting the United Farm Worker Movement and the leadership of César Chávez to share their work with a new generation by exhibiting and archiving their contributions at the University of Arizona MDPI series. In 2005, the first series included over 100 photographs that were lost to public viewing for 30 years until MDPI catalogued the images and curated the exhibit. Educational materials were developed by the Tucson Unified School District Raza Studies program and Pima Community College for grades 4 to college. This collaborative effort brought thousands of students to the university to view the exhibit and share their class assignments. Some who had been part of the movement wept at the exhibit because of the memories evoked. It was called the most visited exhibit ever at the university.
