Olga BrisenoOlga Briseño is the creator and director of the Media, Democracy & Policy Initiative. An award winning journalist from 1977-1990, she has taught journalism courses at a college or university from 1985 to 2003 and developed and ran an award winning college newspaper at Irvine Valley College in Irvine, California from 1991-2000. She taught upper division journalism courses at the University of Arizona from 2000 to 2003 and has completed graduate work in literature and writing studies, political communications and communications. She developed, wrote curriculum and ran a journalism program at Irvine Valley College, is a founding member of the National Association for Hispanic Journalists and served on the board of the California Chicano News Media Association. She has led research on media retention in California in 1990, served on several planning committees for NAHJ conferences, chaired a CCNMA Conference and re-wrote their bylaws, and served on numerous community advisory boards.
