Humberto N. Stevens is one of five siblings raised on the U.S./Mexico border in Nogales, Arizona. As a young man, Humberto helped manage his family's Spanish-language media, entertainment, and retail businesses. Stevens received a Bachelor of Arts in Mexican American Studies at the University of Arizona in 1995. Shortly thereafter, he began work as a trade consultant for Stevens International, a business that facilitates global logistics for companies such as the Ford Motor Company, GMC, and IBM. He has been recruited by companies such as Qwest Wireless to manage their Southern Arizona emerging market and by Wells Fargo Bank for business banking development. Humberto was recently assistant vice president for business banking at JPMorgan Chase Bank, and now vice president of Commerce Bank of Arizona. He is a past board member of Borderlands Theatre and the Tucson Hispanic Coalition. He is currently board president of Media, Democracy, & Policy Initiative; on the board of trustees for the PPEP Foundation and San Miguel High School; executive board treasurer for the University of Arizona Hispanic Alumni Club; honorary board member of the Arizona Women's Conference; a member of the UA President's Hispanic Advisory Council/Task Force, the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, and the American Bankers Association.
