Robert Montemayor was for many years a staff writer for The Los Angeles Times and was a major contributor to one of that newspaper's most definitive series on the subject of Latinos, “Southern California’s Latino Community,” which was awarded the 1984 Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for Meritorious Public Service, the most prestigious of all the Pulitzers awarded to newspapers in the U.S. He was also a member of three other reporting teams that were nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Montemayor has an MBA in marketing from UCLA and a B.A. degree with a major in journalism from Texas Tech University. He was director of circulation marketing at The Wall Street Journal and was a senior vice president for consumer marketing and database operations both at BusinessWeek (McGraw-Hill Companies) and later at VNU Business Media. For the past three years, he has been self employed as principal in Montemayor Consulting. He currently lives in Bloomfield, New Jersey with his wife Virginia Lujano.
